Experiential Writing and Collage

This workshop is a complete programme of nine sessions connecting the written word with visual expression and culminating in the creation of a collective publication.
The experiential writing and collage sessions will alternate, giving participants the time and creative tools to gradually develop both their texts and their individual visual language.
During the writing sessions, images, sounds, poems, music and guided exercises will serve as starting points for free expression. Participants will be encouraged to write without self-censorship, judgement, or concern about what is “right” or “wrong”, exploring thoughts, memories and emotions. Those who wish to do so will be invited to share their writing in a safe and supportive environment.
During the collage sessions, participants will explore the relationship between words and images using different papers, fragments of text and imagery, colours and textures. Collage will not be treated simply as an illustration of the written text, but as a second and independent form of storytelling.
At the end of the programme, each participant will select one text and one collage. The ninth and final session will be dedicated to selecting and organising the material and collectively developing the structure of the zine.
The group’s work will be brought together in a publication designed and printed especially for the workshop. Each participant will receive five copies of the collective zine.
The fee includes workshop materials, the design and preparation of the collective publication, and the printing and binding of five copies for each participant.
