Facilities & Equipment
The facilities of Triton & Shell bring together historic and contemporary specialised equipment for handmade papermaking, bookbinding, and conservation. Part of this equipment originates from workshops and professionals in different countries and periods, retaining not only its functional value but also its connection to the history of paper and book arts.
The equipment includes tools and machinery for fibre processing and handmade paper production, papermaking moulds of different types and origins, as well as presses and specialised bookbinding equipment.
At Triton & Shell, historic equipment is not regarded solely as collection material. Where its condition and nature allow, its study and use can contribute to an understanding of earlier workshop practices and to the transmission of technical knowledge through hands-on practice.
The coexistence of historic tools and contemporary workshop facilities supports a broad range of educational, artistic, and research activities and is central to Triton & Shell’s aim of connecting collection and documentation with living technical practice.
